Mexico recorded case of swine influenza antiviral resistant.
The Secretary of Health of Mexico reported that it confirmed a case in which the swine influenza viruses submitted to the principal antiviral resistance so far used to combat it, which is a mutation of the virus.
Secretary Jose Angel Cordova said that this is the first confirmed case among 423 of which had suspected mutation. “It’s a very low rate,” said the official.
The case that was confirmed was that of a child with a respiratory illness that poor despite receiving antiviral treatment, days later he returned to hospital with severe pneumonia. By asking the test confirmed that this was a mutation in the virus.
The patient was given a new drug called zanamivir, or Relenza and the infection subsided.
